Why was it called Hand of God
Hand of God- Maradona had the goal that he scored for Argentina in the World Cup of 22 June 1986 against England.
Maradona bounced and tried to put the ball into the goal post. He wanted to hit the ball with his head but instead the ball hit his hand and went off the net, hitting goalkeeper Peter Shilton. Argentina took a 1-0 lead in the match.
The referee missed the handball. And at that time no technology was used to change the judgment.
After the match, Maradona had said, “I scored this goal with my head and some hand of God.” Argentina won the match 2–1 and advanced to the semi-finals.
