Kerala fast bowler S.K. Sreesanth still has not given up hope of playing in IPL 2021. The Indian Premier League was the tournament in which his career was derailed by the 2013 spot-fixing scandal. After this, BCCI banned him for life time.
The year 2019 however brought great relief for him. In 2019, the ban was reduced to seven years by the court and finally Sreesanth returned to competitive cricket last month. The right-arm fast bowler was included in the Kerala team for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. After this, he got his name registered in the IPL at a base price of 75 lakhs. However, he could not make it to the players list for the final bid on February 18.
Sreesanth has not given up hope yet. He feels that he can still play in IPL 2021. In the past, teams have had to choose players in the middle of the tournament and Sreesanth hopes that something similar can happen to them as well. He also indicated this on Thursday. He expressed his intentions by commenting on a picture of Preity Zinta, co-mistress of Punjab Kings. He advised Preeti to choose him.
It started with an Instagram picture of Preity Zinta in which she asked the fans which players they would like to see in the Punjab team this year. Zinta’s post came shortly before the auction started for IPL 2021. Priti had asked this question after reaching Chennai after posting it on social media.
Priti wrote, ‘I have arrived in Chennai for the IPL auction. I am very excited to know that this year you would like to see the players in the Punjab Kings jersey? I will tell you friends- I will listen to all ‘???????????? #PBKS #SaddaPunjab #iplauction # iplauction2021 #Ting ”.
Sreesanth immediately commented on this post of Preity Zinta. He commented one by one on this post. In the first comment, he advised to select him for the Punjab Kings. In the next comment, he told Zinta that he would not have to pay any price for this as he was not part of the IPL auction. After this, he wished Preity for the event.
The fast bowler wrote, “Sreesanth.” He further wrote, ‘Since I was not part of the auction but therefore you will not have to pay the price for me … maybe you can still choose me … All the best, have fun … God bless us all Keep it up. ‘
Sreesanth started his IPL career in 2008 with the Punjab Kings (then Kings XI Punjab). He remained with this team until 2010. He took 18 wickets in the first season and was the highest wicket taker after Sohail Tanvir.
