Mohammad Siraj to stay in Australia even after father’s death, BCCI chief Saurabh Ganguly said ‘brave’

Cricket Board of India (BCCI) secretary Jai Shah said on Saturday that fast bowler Mohammad Siraj was given the option of returning to India to be with the mourning family after the father’s demise but he did not return to Australia due to ‘national duty’ I decided to stay. Siraj’s father Mohammad Gaus was 53 years old and was suffering from lung disease.

BCCI Secretary Shah said, “BCCI had a discussion with Siraj and in this hour of grief he was given the option of coming to India to be with his family.” He said, ‘This fast bowler has decided to stay with the Indian team and perform his national duties. The BCCI shares his grief and will support Siraj in this very challenging time. ‘

Board President Saurabh Ganguly lauded the Hyderabad pacer for showing vitality and a strong mindset in this hour of tragedy. He tweeted, “Mohammad Siraj gets the strength to face this situation. I wish him all success on this tour. Tremendous liveliness. ‘ His auto driver father played a key role in Siraj’s success as a cricketer, who, despite limited resources, supported his son’s ambitions.

Siraj came into the limelight with 41 wickets for Hyderabad in the Ranji Trophy.
