New Zealand have announced their 13-man squad for the T20 International series to be played against Australia (New Zealand vs Australia T20 Series) from 22 February. The experienced Kiwi team has the return of veteran opener Martin Guptil. Guptill was recently battling a hamstring injury.
The 34-year-old Guptill played 4 matches for Auckland in the domestic T20 tournament after Injury, scoring a total of 46 runs at an average of 11.50. He did not play two matches which ended on Saturday.
Fin Allen will be Guptill’s backup
21-year-old right-handed batsman Finn Alenn has been hired as Guptill’s backup. New Zealand cricket team selector Gavin Larsen has said that Martin is our strong opener and he is the highest run scorer in T20 International cricket. That is why we support him as an opener. Martin Guptill will have to prove his fitness. If he can’t do that then Fin Allen will be part of the team as an opener.
