Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar believes that in sports, a player recognizes his performance on the field, not his background. One of the greatest cricketers of all time, Tendulkar retired in 2013 after earning several records.
Tendulkar said, ‘Whenever we enter dressing form it doesn’t really matter where you come from. From which part of the country have you come and to whom do you belong? The situation is same for everyone here.
“Nothing recognizes anything other than your performance on the field in sports,” he said in a virtual conversation after becoming the brand ambassador of ‘Unacademy’.
Tendulkar said that the game unites people with new initiatives. He said, ‘You are there as a person. Someone who wants to contribute to the team. This is what we want to do, to share our experiences. Being part of different schools and boards, I meet different types of instructors. I learn a lot myself and these are the experiences I want to share. ‘
He advised the students to make extra efforts to achieve their goals. Tendulkar said, ‘Keep chasing your dreams, dreams come true. Many times we feel that nothing can happen now but it never happens, so make extra effort and you will achieve your goals.
He remembered his late father Ramesh Tendulkar who was a professor. Tendulkar said, “When we talk about access, I remember my father who was a professor and traveled from one end of Mumbai to the other and he was constantly busy teaching his students.”
