Om Puri’s 70th Birthday: Family launches YouTube channel for special occasion

new Delhi: Late actor Om Puri’s wife Nandita and son Ishaan have launched a YouTube channel to celebrate the 70th birth anniversary of the former. Titled ‘Puri Betin’, the channel aims to present unknown facts about the veteran actor.

The channel’s first video shows members of his family with many unseen pictures of Om Puri.

In the clip, we can also see Ishaan and Nandita remembering Om Puri.

Apart from him, popular Ghazal singer, Talat Aziz, and singer-actress Ila Arun also shared insights into Om Puri’s love for music.

Om Puri did versatile projects, from doing socially relevant films to tickling audiences with comedy films. ‘Aakrosh’, ‘Ardh Satya’, ‘Dharavi’, ‘Chilli Masala’, ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’, ‘Aunty 420’, ‘Hera Pheri’ and ‘Malamal Weekly’ are some of his memorable films.

He also made a name for himself in international cinema. He did a cameo role in Richard Attenborough’s 1982 film Gandhi. Some of his British films were ‘My Son the Fanatic’, ‘East is East’ and ‘The Parole Officer’.

He also appeared in Hollywood films including ‘City of Joy’, ‘Wolf’ and ‘The Ghost and the Darkness’.

On his birth anniversary, many actors have also paid tribute to him on social media.

Actor-producer Nikhil Dwivedi tweeted: ‘He too was an ordinary person. He was not vocal and used to be insulted and insulted for it. A grateful society has completely forgotten his contribution. ‘

‘Happy birthday to one of the few masters of acting in the history of Indian cinema. Om Puri, ‘actor Shashank Arora wrote on Twitter.

Om Puri died on 6 January 2017 at his residence in Mumbai.
