The web series was an all-women show of the week, run with an anthology of black widows and short films, coming to ZEE5 and Amazon Prime, respectively.
Let us first talk about Black Widow. The series brings together Mona Singh and Swastika Mukherjee and makes a comeback after her last major release, Cash with Shamita Shetty. A thriller centered on a core plot of three women plotting to assassinate her husband, it also doubles as a dark comedy.

Parambrata Chattopadhyay and Raima Sen have a lead role in Black Widow, with the predominantly Bengali starcast coming together, courtesy director Birsa Dasgupta who previously created the web series Mafia. A popcorn entertainer, it’s easy on one eye and doesn’t really tax your mind much, so staying at its core is an entertainer.
The Unposed, on the other hand, is a two-hour-long compilation of five short films, combined with a common theme of ‘lockdown’. While glitches [Gulshan Devaiah, Saiyami Kher] Raj & DK has a futuristic love story, where all the love stories also migrate to a virtual world, courtesy COVID Phobia, who refuses to die, Rat-a-Tat [Lillete Dubey, Rinku Rajguru] Tannishtha Chatterjee shows a bond between a woman who regrets breaking up her marriage and a girl who rebels against her parents to make her career as a production designer.
While these two stories have their moments, with the latter being more influential, the weakest is the most blatant [Abhishek Banerjee, Geetika Vidya Ohlyan] Which is basically citylights [Rajkummar Rao, Patralekha] At a time when COVID had just emerged as a reality, as a result, migrants struggled to return to their homes. It eliminates everything in one place and does not draw any conclusions.
No wonder the stories you wonder most are Richa Chadha’s The Apartment and Ratna Pathak Shah’s Chand Mubarak where your heart goes out to the hero. The former is directed by Nikkhil Advani and is in fact the most ‘complete short film’ of them all. Riding on the subject of infidelity and suicide, it is also a score due to the presence of Ishwar Singh [Paatal Lok]. Also, it is good to see Sumit Vyas as a brief, but impressive, part 7 followed by Dark 7 White.
However it is difficult to choose the best out of this story and what is told by Nitya Mehra, where she does not show an unexpected bond between an occasional married woman market [Ratna Pathak Shah] And an auto driver [Shardul Bhardwaj] Who is a resident of Bijnor and is trying to live in Mumbai. Although the lady of the house is certainly effective, it is Shardul who is the biggest surprise package of Unpazed. In a role that has been taken by the late Irrfan Khan or Nawazuddin Siddiqui with glee, Shardul graced the occasion extensively and how.

Along the Christmas corner, each major OTT platform is coming up with a signature offering. Disney + Hotstar [Criminal Justice: Behind Closed Doors], Amazon head [Coolie No. 1], Netflix [AK v/s AK], And Sony Liv [Sandwiched Forever] Their dates have been closed between December 24 and 25 to bring the most awaited web series of films before the end of 2020.
Criminal Justice: Closed Doors is the second location behind the Criminal Justice franchise, put together by Applause Entertainment. Rohan Sippy is currently co-producing him with director Arjun Mukherjee. Pankaj Tripathi and Anupriya Goenka lead the franchise with Kirti Kulhari, around which the show revolves. There is a murder in the scheme of things and an investigation that promises to unleash a ton load of skeletons.
Coolie No.1 is the biggest masala entertainer to hit OTT medium this year. An entire family of David Dhawan, who waited more than six months to appear on the big screen, this is just the package film to light up Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan Christmas. For producers Vashu Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh and Jackie Bhagnani, it is coming back in full swing after their production house debut in 1995 with Coolie No.1 alongside Govinda and Karisma Kapoor. This is a really big offer.
AK v / s AK is a film that is as realistic as it is with Anil Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap. Latter kidnapped Sonam Kapoor and now the former had to go out to get her back from the clutches of the villain. The entire promotional and marketing campaign for the film has been quite unique and it will be interesting to see how the end result turns out.
On the other hand Sandwitched Forever is a fun web series to come out on Christmas and also directed by Rohan Sippy. An urban comedy starring Aahana Kumra and Kunal Roy Kapur in the lead roles, with stalwarts Atul Kulkarni, Zakir Hussain, Divya Seth Shah and Lubna Salim coming to both sides of the apartment where the young couple live, hence the title ‘ Sandwich Forever ‘. From the point of view, this should be a good case when catering in urban markets.
Criminal Justice: Behind Closed Doors – December 24
AK v / s AK – 24 December
Coolie number 1 – 25 december
Sandwich Forever – 25 December
