Pakistan beat Zimbabwe by 26 runs in the first ODI on Friday, thanks to fast bowlers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Wahab Riaz. In this match played in Rawalpindi, Wahab (four wickets for 41) and Shaheen (5 wickets for 49 runs) took nine wickets in this match, which gave Pakistan a convincing victory. Pakistan was playing its first ODI international since October last year.
Pakistan batting first scored 281 for eight wickets. Haris Sohail scored 71 for the team while Imam-ul-Haq scored 58 runs. Blessing Mujarbani and Tendai Chisoro took 2–2 wickets each for Zimbabwe.

In response, Zimbabwean team Brendan Taylor (112) scored a century apart from the innings of Wesley Madhvere (55) and Craig Irwin (41) came close to the target but Afridi and Wahab eventually gave the visiting team a total of 255 in 49.4 overs. Tied. Wicket-keeper batsman Taylor hit 11 fours and 3 sixes in his innings of 117 balls.
The second ODI of the three-match series will be played on November 1 at the same ground. (Input from agency)
