PBKS vs SRH: Sunrisers Hyderabad win their first season of the season, defeating Punjab Kings by 9 wickets

Sunrisers Hyderabad (PBKS vs SRH) defeated Punjab Kings by 9 wickets in the 14th match of IPL 2021 (IPL 2021) following the unbeaten half-century of Jonny Bairstow after the disciplined bowling of their bowlers. Bairstow was adjudged Player of the Match for his outstanding batting.

Fast bowler Khalil took three wickets for 21 runs in four overs with a brilliant mix of slow balls. The Punjab batsmen had no answer to the spin bowling of Abhishek (24/2) and Rashid Khan (17/1). Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Siddharth Kaul also had one success each.

Bairstow and Warner gave a big start
Chasing the target, Bairstow and captain David Warner (37) got Hyderabad off to a great start so the team did not have much trouble chasing the target even in difficult batting conditions. Kane Williamson was unbeaten on 16 runs. Punjab’s only success was scored by Fabian Allen (22/1). The Sunrisers chased down the small target aggressively. Warner hit a four against Mohammed Shami in the first over while Jani Bairstow hit a four and then a six against Fabian Allen in the second over.

Hyderabad scored 50 runs without any loss in Powerplay

The Hyderabad team scored 50 runs without any loss in the powerplay. However after the powerplay, the Punjab bowlers were successful in curbing the boundary. Warner hit his first six off Deepak Hooda in the 10th over but was caught by Manish Pandey off Allen in the very next over. He shared a 73-run partnership with Bairstow for the first wicket with a 37-ball 37. It was Allen’s over maiden. Hyderabad completed the hundred of runs with a single from Williamson on the last ball of the 16th over.

Bairstow completed his half-century with a four off the first ball of the 18th over. The boundary came after 45 balls for Hyderabad. He hit his second six against Arshadip in the next over to reduce the gap between the ball and the required runs to ensure the team’s victory. Earlier, both teams had made three changes for the match.

Punjab replaces Henriques, Allan and Murugan Ashwin
The Punjab team included Allen, Moises Henriques and Murugan Ashwin in their final 11. Williamson returned to the Hyderabad team while Kedar Jadhav and Siddharth Kaul also got a chance. In the first over of the Punjab innings, Mayank Agarwal was given a catch by Rashid in the very first over, but in the seventh over, he took a brilliant catch off Khalil’s ball and finished his 22-run innings. Earlier, Bhubaneshwar caught Kedar Jadhav in the third over and sent Lokesh Rahul (04) to the pavilion.

Before Nicholas Pooran got a strike, David sent a pavilion with a straight throw to the wicket. Rashid Khan, who came for bowling in the ninth over, lbw Chris Gayle to end his innings of 15 off 17 balls. Punjab’s team was able to score 53 runs for four wickets in the first 10 overs during which only five fours were hit.

Deepak Hooda (13) hit a reverse sweep against Rashid but was lbw to Abhishek in the 12th over. He resorted to DRS against the on-field umpire’s decision but had to return to the pavilion due to the umpires’ call. Shah Rukh Khan (22) hit two attractive sixes but his dismissal in the 19th over led the team to score big.

Meanwhile all-rounders Henriques (14) and Allen (06) also failed to make an impact with the bat. In the last over, Vijay Shankar dismissed Mohammed Shami and dismissed Punjab’s innings for 120 runs. This was the smallest score on the field in the current season.
