Former Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene has said that it would be wrong to compare the current bowlers with the former players, as Jasprit Bumrah and Kagiso Rabada are probably better batsmen than before.

He said, “If you look at the top 10 bowlers who have taken the most wickets of today, then they have spent their early career in that period. I did not play Kapil Dev and Courtney Walsh because I started cricket after them. '

Jayawardene while talking to Sanjay Manjrekar on ESPNcricinfo said, “Then there were Muttiah Muralitharan, Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath, Anil Kumble, Bhajji (Harbhajan Singh), Saqlain Mushtaq, Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis. Their figures tell about them. '

He said, “We have yet to see if the plantations of the current bowlers reach those figures.” The current bowler is probably playing in front of a better batting unit. ”Jayawardene has played a total of 652 matches for Sri Lanka in all formats and is counted among the greatest batsmen in the world.
