Arjun Tendulkar, son of legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, scored an unbeaten 77 off 31 balls and took three wickets for 41 runs in the Group A second round match of the 73rd Police Invitation Shield Cricket Tournament here on Sunday. Due to his strong performance, MIG Cricket Club defeated Islam Gymkhana by 194 runs.
5 sixes in one over
The tournament is being organized under the aegis of Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and is the first cricket competition in the city after the lockdown caused by Corona virus. Twenty one year old Arjun hit five fours and eight sixes during his brilliant innings. He hit five sixes in the same over off-spinner Hashir Dafedar.

Apart from Arjun’s brilliant effort for the first time in the IPL auction, opener Kevin DLMeda (96) and number four batsman Pranesh Khandilewar (112) played a key role in MIG’s stunning victory. After winning the toss, MIG came out to bat and scored a huge score of 385 for seven wickets in 45 overs.

In response, Islam Gymkhana’s team were reduced to just 191 runs in 41.5 overs. Ankush Jaiswal (3 wickets for 31 runs) and Shreyas Gurav (3 wickets for 34 runs) took the wickets together with Arjun. Arjun recently made his debut in the Mumbai senior team by playing in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
He has been included in the list of players for the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction to be held in Chennai on 18 February. Earlier, Arjun bowled the players of the Indian team in the net and represented India’s Under-19 team on the tour of Sri Lanka.
