- India did not get any practice match before the WTC final, Kohli also raised the question
- Kohli had said that he wants to play against the county team even before the series against England
- India was earlier to play against India A but that tour has been canceled due to Corona.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considered to be the most powerful and richest board in the world. Despite this, he could not even ensure a warm-up match for Team India in England. In the final match of the World Test Championship (WTC), Team India’s batting order collapsed in front of New Zealand bowlers and their second innings was reduced to 170 runs.
In view of the WTC final, India did not get a chance to play practice matches in the quarantine period. Indian captain Virat Kohli said that he wants to play against the county team in between the WTC final and the Test series against England.
However, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) did not allow this. India was to play with India A in case there was no match against county teams, but India A’s tour was canceled due to the Corona epidemic.
Asked whether India will play warm-up matches against county teams. To this Kohli said, ‘It cannot depend on us. We wanted to play first-class matches which we didn’t get. I don’t know what is the reason behind it.’
Indian team can play intra squad match from next month. Some of India’s top players including Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Devdutt Padikal and Hardik Pandya are busy with the limited overs series against Sri Lanka in July and cannot travel to England. In such a situation, the team will prepare with the same players who are present in England. In the current situation, intra squad match is the only way out. “I think we have enough time to prepare for the first Test,” Kohli said.
