Bangladesh's young fast bowler Qazi Anik Islam has been banned for two years by the National Cricket Board for failing a dope test in 2018. Qazi took the most wickets for Bangladesh in the 2018 Under-19 World Cup.
Qazi was found positive for the banned substance methamphetamine during the National Cricket League that same year. The 21-year-old player confessed to the crime. Its two-year ban starts on 8 February 2019.
The statement issued from the Bangladesh Cricket Board said, “In Anik's case, the BCB had taken into consideration the youth and inexperience while considering their blame. The fact is that he did not do this to increase the level of performance in his game. This was due to their limited anti-doping information. When he was informed of this, he accepted the charge. ”Qazi has taken 15 wickets in four first-class matches apart from playing in the Under-19 World Cup.
