Former First Class cricketer Raghunath Chandorkar celebrated his 100th birthday on Saturday. He is only the third Indian cricketer to have scored a birthday century.
Chandorkar played seven first class matches between 1943–1950. He made his debut in the Maharashtra vs Bombay match. And the last match was Bombay vs Maharashtra.
It is a coincidence that Chandorkar’s debut match included DB Deodhar and Vasant Raiji, both of these cricketers also made centuries in their lives.
Overall, Chandorkar scored 155 runs and took two wickets. He also used to do wicketkeeping occasionally. He made two stumps against the Australia Services team in 1945.
