new Delhi: Shooting of megastar Rajinikanth starrer ‘Annathe’ has been stopped after some crew members tested positive for COVID-19. According to an ANI report, shooting of the upcoming film has been halted after positive cases were detected on set during routine testing of coronoviruses.
Earlier this month, Varun Dhawan and Neetu Singh also stopped shooting for ‘Jug Jug Jeyo’ after testing positive for the virus. After Varun and Neetu were recovered from COVID-19, the makers have now resumed the shooting of the comedy drama. The film also stars Anil Kapoor and Kiara Advani.

Rajinikanth Test Negative for COVID-19
The crew of the film took to Sun Pictures on social media to issue a statement after testing positive for COVID-19. The Twitter handle of the production house confirmed that Rajinikanth has tested negative while the virus has been detected in four crew members. The shooting has been postponed to ensure the safety of the cast and crew.
“4 crew members have tested positive for Covid19 during routine testing on #Annaathe shoot. Superstar @rajinikanth and other crew members have tested negative. #Annaatthe shooting has been postponed for complete safety,” tweeted Read.
Last week, the Twitter handle of Sun Pictures shared a picture of Rajinikanth from the set of ‘Annathe’. The makers resumed the shoot for the highly anticipated flick in Hyderabad in the second week of December, months after being hit by the COVID-19 lockdown.
Annathe Star Cast and Release Date
The film stars Rajinikanth, Keerthy Suresh, Meena, Khushboo, Nayantara, Prakash Raj and Jackie Shroff. The Tamil action drama is being directed by Shivkumar Jayakumar, who is professionally known as Shiva.
On the professional front, Rajinikanth was last seen in ‘Darbar’, which was released on January 9, 2020.
