Rajkumar Sharma, the childhood mentor of Indian captain Virat Kohli, was on Sunday appointed as the head coach of the Delhi Ranji Trophy team for the upcoming 2020-21 domestic season. Former Delhi first class player Sharma (55 years) was the bowling coach of the team last season when KP Bhaskar was the head coach of the team. Sharma, who was awarded the Dronacharya Award, is also the coach of ICC Associate Team Malta.
He has also given Delhi the CK Nayudu Trophy (Under-23) title. Former Indian batsman Gursharan Singh was appointed assistant coach. Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) appointed former opener Ashu Dani as chairperson of the selection committee.
Mohan Chaturvedi and Chetanya Nanda are the other members of the selection panel. The Chairperson of the Cricket Advisory Committee or the person nominated by him shall be the Supervisor of the Selection Committee. The appointments were announced on Sunday after being recommended by the DDCA’s Cricket Advisory Committee on Saturday.
