Rashid Khan said, Afghanistan’s dream to win T20 World Cup, no shortage of talent and skill

Dubai
Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan has said that the players of his country have the talent and skills to win the T20 World Cup. He, however, has no trouble admitting that his team did not know what they were doing in the debut Test against India and lost the match in just two days.

Afghanistan had to face an innings and 262 runs defeat at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, making their debut in Test cricket against India almost two years ago. Rashid, considered to be Afghanistan’s most successful player, said, “What the team (Afghanistan) is looking for now and what the people of the country are hoping for, I think our biggest achievement should be winning the T20 World Cup.”

The leg-spinner said in Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin’s program ‘DRS with Ash’, ‘We have all the skills and talents. We just need to believe in ourselves that we can. When you ask about that Test (against India), we were disappointed there because we did not have experience against big teams. We don’t get a chance to play much against big teams.

He said, ‘Our players are known for T20. I and my country have the same dream that one day we win the T20 World Cup. This will be the biggest achievement for Afghanistan cricket and all of us.

Recalling the debut Test, the Afghanistan captain said, “The biggest dream of the entire country was to be called a full member team and play Test matches.” When we were playing our first Test against your team, we did not know what we were doing. Everyone’s focus was on things like first four, first run, first six.
