Chennai: Veteran actor SP Balasubrahmanyam has been laid to rest at Thamaripakkam village in Thiruvallore district. The body of the singer of ‘Body Maine Pyaar Kiya’ was brought to his residence yesterday from the hospital, his fans were allowed to have a last look at the legendary singer. Her mortal remains were then taken to her farmhouse in the evening, in a van in the evening to her farmhouse in Thamaraipakkam.

The body of SP Balasubramaniam was dumped in a pit dug with police honors. The singer’s family cremated him leading to the end of a great musical era.
Also, for the funeral of the legendary singer, elaborate security arrangements were made and around 500 police personnel were deployed. A separate traffic police team was also present to take care of traffic issues.
Hundreds of people were present at his farmhouse who stood in long queues to pay their last respects to the late singer.

Legendary director Bharathiraja and singer Mano attended the funeral. The director was also present at the hospital last evening. Andhra Pradesh minister Anil Kumar paid the last tribute to the late singer.
Born in Nellore on 4 June 1946, SP Balasubrahmanyam recorded 40,000 songs in 16 languages and holds the Guinness World Record for recording the most songs. The veteran singer was also the recipient of civil awards such as ‘Padma Shri’ and ‘Padma Bhushan’ from the Government of India.
His health deteriorated on 5 August and he was admitted to the ICU at MGM Healthcare, Chennai after testing positive for COVID-19. Although he defeated the virus on 8 September, he succumbed to a cardio-respiratory attack.
Apart from being a prolific singer, SPB was also a music director, an actor and a producer. He is survived by his wife Savitri, daughter Pallavi and son SP Charan, who is also a singer and producer.
