Michael Hussey believes that Rohit Sharma with his ability and skill can succeed in Australia's tougher conditions in the tour to be held later this year. India has to tour Australia for a four-Test series whose first match will be played in Brisbane from December 3.
During this series, the eyes will be on Rohit, who had a great performance by landing as an opener for the first time in Test cricket against South Africa in October last year. He did not play in both Tests against New Zealand due to a calf injury.
Hussey said, 'Any batsman in the world is tested under Australian conditions but I believe that he (Rohit) has played a lot of matches in the top order in ODI cricket and he has got success in Test matches now and that gives him confidence. Must have increased. '
He said at Sony Ten Pit Stop, 'I have no doubt that he has the ability and skills to succeed in the conditions there.'
Hussey also believes that the return of Steve Smith and David Warner will make the upcoming series difficult for India. India and Australia won the Test series for the first time in Australia in 2018 when Smith and Warner did not play due to being banned.
He said, “Of course Smith and Warner's return has strengthened the team but the players who played two years ago were not fully prepared. Now they are experienced and hence India will face a tough challenge in Australia this summer. '
