Captain Rohit Sharma of Mumbai Indians proved to be a flop in the first qualifier match of IPL-13 and kept going without opening an account. Rohit was lbw out by Ashwin on the third ball of the second over of the innings. Rohit’s record in playoff / knockout matches has been very poor.
This was the third time that Rohit returned to the pavilion without opening an account in IPL knockout or playoff matches. He has scored 229 runs in 19 innings at an average of 12.72 so far and has a strike rate of over 101.

Rohit missed 4 consecutive matches due to injury. He made his comeback in the final league match of the season and was able to score just 4 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The 33-year-old Rohit played a stormy 50 off 26 balls against Chennai Super Kings in the 2015 IPL final. Since then he has not been able to show such feat in the playoffs / knockouts. Rohit was the man of the match in that match and under his captaincy, Mumbai won the trophy by winning by 41 runs.
