Suresh Raina played a key role in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy win against Uttar Pradesh’s Tripura. The former Team India all-rounder threw a tight spell of 0/23, smashed 36 not out, and had a brilliant run-out.
Raina retired from international cricket on 15 August last year, but he still represents Uttar Pradesh in domestic cricket. Raina has been known not only for his batting but also for his great fielding.
The run-out by Raina is being discussed a lot. In this, Raina showed quickness as well as mental readiness. He caught the ball early and threw quickly.
Batting first, Tripura started well. His score was 93/4 in 15.3 overs. His captain Mani Shankar Murasingh formed a partnership with Milind Kumar. When Tripura’s innings was about to gain momentum, Raina did a great job in fielding.
When the batsman played a shot on Raina’s ball, the non-strike tried to take a run. But Raina caught his own ball and threw it between the legs at the non-strike end.
