Afridi tweeted, ‘Unfortunately I have to return home due to personal emergency. I will return to join my team at LPL soon after dealing with the situation. All the best. ‘
Later a picture was shared from the Lanka Premier League Twitter account in which he is seen standing near his daughter.
Now if Afridi returns to play in the Lanka Premier League, he will have to stay in Quarantine for some time. Apart from Afridi, Aftab Alam, the pacer of Dambulla Viking, has also returned to Afghanistan citing personal reasons.
Afridi took command of the Galle team after Sri Lankan fast bowler Lasith Malinga and Pakistan’s wicketkeeper batsman Sarfraz Ahmed declared themselves unavailable due to lack of preparation and national commitments. Vice-captain Bhanuka Rajapaksa can now lead the Galle Gladiators in Afridi’s absence.
