Kolkata: Doctors said that the health condition of veteran Bengali actor Soumitra Chatterjee has improved marginally on Friday, but it is still serious.
Chatterjee underwent a second dialysis on Thursday at the Belle View Clinic, Kolkata’s flagship. Chatterjee has been on ventilator support since Monday as the medical team at the hospital described his kidney function as ‘not so good’.

According to hospital sources, there has been no gastrointestinal bleeding on Friday. However, his hemoglobin had gone down for a while and doctors had to go for two units of blood transfusion.
Dadasaheb Phalke Awardi, 85, has been admitted to the ICU for about 20 days. Hospital sources said that the major problem for Chatterjee was Covid-19encephalopathy.
His platelet count is currently stable and there was no platelet transfusion. The count is gradually increasing and the temperature is not even. The antibiotic is also working on his body, doctors said.

Chatterjee tested positive for coronavirus on October 5 and was hospitalized the next morning.
He was shooting a documentary titled ‘Abhijan’ directed by actor Parambrata Chattopadhyay. She last participated in the shooting at Bharatalakshmi Studio on 1 October. The next shooting time was set for 7 October.
