South African captain Quinton de Kock has decided to take a ‘mental break’ on medical advice. He will not play in the upcoming domestic T20 tournament because of this.
Andrew Breitzke, the chief executive of the South Africa Cricketers Association, told ESPNcricinfo that Dickock would take a few weeks break from the game.
“South Africa Cricketers Association and Cricket South Africa will help them in this process,” said Breitzke.
Dickock was the South African Cricketer of the Year in the year 2020. He returned after losing the Test series to Pakistan last week. During this time, there was a lot of criticism about his captaincy.
Dickock is the regular captain of South Africa in the limited-overs format. He has currently agreed to captain the Test team for this season. He had said last month that he had started feeling pressure due to prolonged stay in bio-bubble.
