Jasouth Africa’s legendary batsman Faf du Plessis has decided to retire from Test cricket. The 36-year-old batsman announced this on Wednesday (17 February).
Du Plessis confirmed this decision on his Instagram account. He wrote, ‘I am clear and it is time that I start a new chapter in life’.
Du Plessis had done well in his first Test match for South Africa. He saved South Africa from defeat in the Adelaide Test against Australia by scoring 212 runs in the fourth innings of the match. Du Plessis played 69 Test matches for South Africa.
Du Plessis further wrote, ‘If someone told me 15 years ago that I would play 69 Test matches for South Africa and captain the team, I would not believe them. My heartfelt gratitude for the blessings I have received in my Test career.
