A video clip of Smith during a drink break during the last day of the Sydney Test went viral, in which he was seen tampering with the batsmen’s mark near the crease. Rishabh Pant was batting during that time.
Smith told News Corp, “Very disappointed and shocked by this kind of response. I was doing this to understand and practice some things from there. I often do this in matches to understand where we are bowling and how the batsmen are facing them. I have a habit of making marks there. ‘
Smith was targeted by fans as well as former Indian opener Virender Sehwag after the video of him scratching the crease. Now, however, another video of him has surfaced, which is being called the full clip.
The third Test match of the series between India and Australia was drawn on the 5th and final day. Pant played a fiery innings of 97 runs in this match and also played an important role in getting India to draw the match. The Philball series is tied at 1-1.
