In a hearing this afternoon, advocate Satish Maneshinde argued that the investigation by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) was without jurisdiction and unlawful as the Supreme Court order of 19 August stated that in the case of the death of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput All the cases should be transferred to CBI.
Refusing to submit by Additional Solicitor-General Anil Singh, that the NCB was not served with a copy of the application, Maneshinde said it was served twice.
Terming the case against Riya as “a witch hunt”, she informed the court that she had been charged by Sushant for purchasing drugs for consumption and nothing was seized from her.
He said that the offenses for which he was charged are bailable as Sec. 27A of the NDPS Act is not applicable to the present case as no commercial quantities of drugs were recovered from siblings.
After Manishi’s hearing, Justice Kotwal asked Singh whether the NCB wanted to file an answer and accordingly posted the case for hearing on 29 September.
Chakravarti’s sister-brother is currently in judicial custody till 6 October.
