The Narcotics Control Bureau, investigating the drug angle in the case of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, arrested the late actor’s friend Rishikesh Pawar on Tuesday (February 2). During its investigation, NCB found that Pawar played a big role in turning the ‘Rabta’ actor into a drug addict. Hrishikesh, who worked as an assistant director for SSR’s Dream Project from 2018-19, was produced in court on Wednesday (3 February). He used to provide narcotics to Sushant during this time.
Sushant asks him to leave the project due to his poor behavior. NCB sources said that Deepesh Sawant approached Pawar during the COVID-19 lockdown and bought drugs for the actor. The NCB sought judicial custody of Rishikesh Pawar for five days; However, the court remanded him in custody for two days.
The Drugs Law Enforcement Agency arrested Riya Chakraborty and her brother Shovik Chakraborty in a case involving the death of SSR last year. The NCB arrested the siblings for procuring and financing drugs for Sushant under various provisions of the NDPS Act. The Bombay High Court granted Riya bail in October 2020 on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh. She walked out of Baikula prison after being behind bars for a month.
The NCB, which has intensified its investigation into the alleged Bollywood drugs case, has seized a number of drug-related photographs for Pawar’s laptop. The agency had questioned several B-town celebs as part of its investigation into the drugs case. The NCB has arrested 30 people in the case.
Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his apartment on 14 June 2020. Three central agencies including the CBI and ED are investigating the high-profile death case.
SSR’s final film ‘Dil Bekhar’ premiered directly on Disney + Hotstar on July 24. The romantic drama, which is the official adaptation of John Green’s novel The Fault in Out Star, also starred Sanjana Sanghi. Mukesh Chhabra directorial OTT managed to get good response from the audience on stage.
