According to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) submitted for the Indian Premier League (IPL) to the franchisees of the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) on Wednesday, the eight teams participating in the tournament will be housed in eight different hotels, leaving for the UAE. In the first Covid-19trial, it will be mandatory to come twice negative and will be punished for violating any rules related to the biologically safe environment. The medical team of each franchisee should have medical and travel history of all players and support staff from March this year.
According to this, 'it will be mandatory for all Indian players and team support staff to conduct two Covid-19PCR tests within 24 hours in a week before the franchisee gathers in the city of choice'. Prior to departure it will help reduce the risk of infection within the group. 'According to the SOP document,' any violation by the player or team support staff of the rules relating to the biologically safe environment of the IPL Code of Conduct Will be punished accordingly.
Know Covid-19positive but what will happen?
Whoever is found to be corona virus positive will have to undergo quarantine and after 14 days, the person will have to undergo two COVID-19 tests at a difference of 24 hours. If both test results are negative, the person will be allowed to leave the UAE. These rules will also apply to all foreign players and team support staff. There will be trials on the first, third and sixth days after reaching UAE and then every fifth day during the tournament.
According to the SOP, 'franchise teams will be housed in separate hotels. Team members will be provided with rooms that will have central air conditioning separate from the rest of the hotel. ”It added,“ After the third negative result comes, team members will be allowed to meet each other in a biologically safe environment. However, one has to wear face masks at all times and follow the rules related to social distance. '
Have to order food in the room
According to the SOP, people will have to order food in their rooms and teams will have to avoid using the collective food space. Also during the upcoming IPL it was recommended to use the empty stands as an extended dressing room while team meetings can be organized outdoors to maintain social distance. There will be no toss mascot in the UAE during the IPL to be held from September 19, which will cause the BCCI to lose sponsorship money.
Family can go together, but…
The family of players and support staff members may accompany them, but they will not be allowed to travel in a team bus and exit a biologically safe environment. Apart from this, teams will be asked to give information of the final XI on paper instead of on electronic form. The SOP recommends for a medical team, including physio and gardeners, to wear a PPE kit if they are to come into physical contact with the player (for massage sessions, etc.). Apart from this, most of the recommendations are the same which the International Cricket Council has published in its SOP.
