The league does not respond to making goods

Author: Manoj Chaturvedi
The Indian Premier League, ie the IPL, has been successful in achieving maturity in its 13-year-long journey. During this period, there was a change in the thinking of the teams. When this league started in 2008, everyone captained those who had good experience. In the first edition of the IPL, MS Dhoni, Adam Gilchrist, Shane Warne, Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly and Yuvraj Singh were given the captaincy. But Rohit Sharma became the captain of Mumbai Indians in 2013 and brought tremendous success to his team. From then on, the franchisees began to hand over the command to competent young captains instead of experience. In the 14th season of IPL starting April 9 this year, Delhi Capitals have given the lead to Rishabh Pant and Rajasthan Royals have given the lead to Sanju Samson. Punjab Kings are already headed by young player KL Rahul.

Need team
After more than a decade of IPL, teams now know very well what their need is. They try to get the players according to their needs in the auction. So instead of running behind the big names at the time of the auction, the teams go after the appropriate players. Apart from this, the emphasis of most teams is now to take on young players who are fast-paced. This is the reason why veteran cricketers like Steve Smith and Harbhajan Singh are being bought at base price. That is, the importance of such players in teams has decreased.

Mumbai Indians team celebrating after victory

Looking at the batsmen’s performance in the IPL matches held in the United Arab Emirates last year, KL Rahul (670), Shreyas Iyer (519), Ishaan Kishan (516) and Devadatta Padikkal (473) topped the list as youngsters. All of them are currently trying to make a place or make a place in Team India. Like last time, this time too, the focus of the teams is going to be on the Young Brigade. There has been so much in these years that all the teams have become very strong. So it is difficult to say in advance which team will rock. Teams like Mumbai Indians, who have relied on a particular player for many years, are in a slightly better position, but this does not necessarily mean that they are invincible.

The IPL was started so that away cricket players could be drawn back to the game. This league was successful in this endeavor, now it has also become the most rich league of cricket. Not only this, it is also a major source of BCCI earnings. With this, BCCI earns around Rs 5000 crore every year. This means that the IPL fetches around Rs 80 crore per match. In this case, she stands behind the American NFL, English Premier League and La Liga. But these leagues run most of the year. Their number of matches is very high.

At the same time, it is not possible to organize a cricket league for a long time because the structure of international cricket is based on bilateral cricket and ICC tournaments are also organized in between. The ICC has not given any window for the IPL, but it is definitely that now the countries have reduced the time to organize the series at the time of its event.

Although many T20 leagues are being organized in the world, no other league has the same reputation as IPL. The reason for this is to have a lot of money in it. Players not only feel honored by joining, they also consider it as a major means of earning. This is the reason that many times players participate in this except for the national responsibility. Many players have taken over from international cricket to retire to join it. Taking the same example, South Africa is currently playing a series with Pakistan, but players like Quinton Dickock, Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi, David Miller and Enrich Nortje have left that series and participated in the IPL. Thankfully South African coach Mark Boucher took it positively and said that these players playing in the IPL will prepare for the T20 World Cup to be held in India at the end of the year and in the series against Pakistan Your bench strength will also get a fair idea. In this regard, England T20 captain Eoin Morgan says that cricket administrators should prepare a ten-year program in such a way that no cricketer has to give preference to these leagues instead of his country.

Shadow of corona
Last year, the IPL was held in the UAE due to Corona. This time it was expected that Corona would have been under control by the time the match started. But this could not happen. This time it is being organized in six cities – Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Delhi and Kolkata. The opening matches are to be played in Mumbai and Chennai. Both of these cities are victims of the second wave of Corona. The inaugural match between the previous champions Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore is scheduled to be played on 9 April at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, but about a dozen and a half dozen employees who have been preparing for the stadium have been infected with Corona. This increase in speed can cause problems for the event. However the Mumbai Cricket Association and the BCCI remain committed to the IPL event. Anyway, once the players go into the bio bubble, corona related problems are solved to a great extent.
