Australia’s Test captain Tim Paine has apologized to the New Zealand team. Actually, he had predicted an easy victory for India before the final of the World Test Championship (WTC), but the New Zealand team created history by registering an 8-wicket win. After this he has apologized to the Kiwi team.
New Zealand got the ICC Test Championship mess with around Rs 12 crore on becoming the WTC winner. The 36-year-old Penn had said before the title match that the Indian team would easily win this match. Penn said, ‘We are all proven wrong at times. I had come under the target of Kiwi fans so I thought I would be polite by going on air.
Why do India’s lions fail in big matches?
He said, ‘I think New Zealand played a great game. It’s always nice to see the way they play. I come from Tasmania which is a small resource state, so I respect the way the Kiwi team performs at the international level.
Paine heaped praise on New Zealand pacer Kyle Jamieson, who had put pressure on India by dismissing Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara in the second innings. Paine said, ‘He did well last time against us under the captaincy of Kane Williamson. He took on Jamieson in the WTC finals who performed brilliantly on the fifth and sixth days. Apart from this, the Kiwi team had an opener like Devon Conway.
