Bollywood critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh called it a ‘significant development’.

Carnival Cinemas Managing Director PV Sunil issued a statement after the MHA issued new guidelines for Unlock 5.0. He said that this is the right time to reopen the cinema hall as Diwali 2020 is in the corner.

We are very happy with this news because we have been waiting for this for a long time. Business has been affected so badly, but I would say that this is the right time to open with Diwali right around the corner. 50 percent capacity is better than what we thought would be allowed earlier. In fact, we were proposing 50 percent capacity. It conforms to the norm of every other industry. Most countries are also following the same criteria. Till now, our software is being modified accordingly so that viewers get a seamless experience while booking tickets online., “Sunil said in a statement.

Over all, this is very good news. However, we have a lot of work to do to open up. The good thing is that different teams handle each property and we also have two weeks, it takes us enough time to get ready. Anyway, we planned to reopen all of this, so there should be no problem. While some state governments have to move towards the reopening of theaters, we are likely to open all major properties in other states within the stipulated time. On the content side, producers are already in talks about releasing films. We have limited time slots, so content should not be a problem. In the first few weeks, the content may not overflow but things will soon return to normal., “he adds.

Many films including ‘Sowrivanshi’, ’83’, ‘Radhey: Your Most Wanted Bhai’ and ‘Laxmi Bomb’ could not be released on their scheduled dates as the cinema halls were closed due to Co-19 epidemic. The film, Angry Medium, starring Irrfan Khan and Radhika Madan, did not last long at the box office after the government decided to close theaters, cinema halls and multiplexes due to the coronavirus crisis.
