Team India’s spin bowler Varun Chakraborty has failed in the fitness test. Officials of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed this. BCCI and team officials have confirmed that spinner Varun has failed in the fitness test at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). He may be given another chance.
If he does not pass in the Test, then he will not be able to play in the series. Varun had to give a yo-yo test and he could not cross the required mark of 17.1. The BCCI sent 35 players to the NCA for fitness tests. Another player involved in the T20 series against England has failed in the fitness test.
With 10 days left for the T20 series, it is likely that Varun and another player may be sent for another round of the Yo-Yo test. After the four-match Test series between India and England, the T20 series will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera from March 12.
