Legendary Odia film actor Ajit Das died on Sunday in a private hospital while undergoing treatment. He was 71. He was hospitalized after testing positive for Kovid-19. An alumnus of the National School of Drama (NSD), Das acted in more than 60 Odia films and produced several plays. Born in Mayurbhanj district in 1949, Das made his film debut in the 1976 film Sindura Bindu.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Pratap Sarangi and many other leaders expressed condolences on the demise of Das. The film fraternity also expressed its condolences.
Describing the late Ajit Das as a great genius, the Chief Minister said that he has made an indelible mark in the Odia film industry as a versatile actor and director.
“The demise of Ajit Das, a former head of the drama department at Utkal Music College, has created a great void in the Odila film industry, which will take years to fill. Das will remain in the hearts of innumerable cine lovers in Odisha.” ” He added.
The Chief Minister expressed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family.
