For the young opener Prithvi Sau, the IPL and tour of Australia last year was not good. He was ruled out of the playing eleven after a poor performance in the first Test match played in Adelaide. However, the 21-year-old learned lessons from criticism and improved his game.
Sau returned to domestic cricket and regained his form. He scored a record 827 runs in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Saw has now returned to his colors, a view of this was also seen in the Saturday match against Chennai Super Kings.
Chennai had set a target of 189 runs in front of Delhi. Delhi achieved this challenging target with 8 balls to spare. Sau gave Delhi a strong start during this period. He along with Shikhar Dhawan added 138 runs for the first wicket. The pair made the match out of reach of Chennai.
Sav scored an innings of 72 off just 38 balls. His strike rate was 189.47. During his innings, he hit nine fours and three sixes.
Former opener Virender Sehwag could not stop himself from praising this explosive innings on the pitch. Virender Sehwag, the most aggressive batsman of his time, praised Saw through a picture on Twitter. In this picture, Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara are seen with Sehwag. This gave the users an idea of the words of Team India coach Ravi Shastri that he had uttered in 2018 when Sau started his Test career against the West Indies. Sehwag shared a picture on Saturday with the caption with the trio – ‘It was a good day for us.’
In this series, Sav scored 237 runs in two matches. The coach then praised him and said, “He (Sav) is born to play cricket.” He has been playing cricket on the Mumbai grounds since the age of 8. You see all that hard work. It is reassuring for the audience to see him. There is a little Sachin, a little Veeru in his batting and when he walks, a little Lara is also seen in him.
