Former India opener Gautam Gambhir said that no player in world cricket is close to England all-rounder Ben Stokes. Stokes, who played a key role in making England the World Champion, won his team in the second Test match against the West Indies by scoring superb innings of 176 and 78 not out. He was also the man of the match.
Not only this, Stokes has also done wonders with the ball and scored 313 runs in the first two matches of this Test series against the Windies, taking 9 wickets. Gambhir said, “You cannot compare Ben Stokes with any Indian cricketer at this time. Not at all, because Stokes is in great rhythm. '
Gambhir said in a Star Sports show, “Leave India as they (Stokes) have performed in Test cricket, ODIs and T20 cricket, there is no one close to them in world cricket at the moment.”
The 38-year-old former player said that Stokes is a player that any captain would like to have in his team. Gambhir, who has played 58 Tests for India, said, “Stokes are the players to make an impact in a match that every team needs. Any captain's dream would be to have a player like Stokes in his team. His batting, bowling and fielding are all great. '
That's why Ben Stokes is the best
In the absence of regular captain Joe Root, England suffered a defeat in the first Test under the leadership of Stokes. Talking about the leadership qualities of Stokes, Gambhir said, “He is a captain in his ability.” You do not need to be called a captain to be a captain. You can be a leader with your performance. '
Gambhir said, “So I think a lot of players would really be inspired by Ben Stokes, but unfortunately, there is no one like him in world cricket right now.”
